Opeyemi Bamidele and the new governor-elect, Dr, Kayode Fayemi
The Director-General of the Kayode Fayemi campaign council, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has asked members of the public to disregard the rumour being circulated on his death.
According to Bamidele who spoke from a London hospital, rumour mongers are just desperate to ensure that the victory of the newly elected governor of Ekiti state is not peacefully celebrated.
Bamidele who spoke through his media aide, Ahmed Salami, yesterday via a statement noted that he is recovering speedily as a result of the proper medical attention he is getting from an undisclosed London hospital.
Recalled that NIGERIA NEWS had published a report on how a police officer unintentionally shot at Bamidele during a rally held in Ekiti by the All Progressives Congress APC, prior to the gubernatorial election of the state. APC News: How Police Shoots Michael Opeyemi Bamidele In Ekiti State
The statement on the state of his health presently reads: “I spoke as a DG of the victorious campaign outfit for over 10 minutes in an audio clip I sent during the mega rally attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Com Adams Oshiomhole, governors and other party leaders in Ado Ekiti.”
“I believe these evidence sufficed to convince anybody that I am still alive. Could it mean that these mischief makers thought such audio address was fabricated? “I expect every Ekiti man to pray for my survival rather than wishing me dead.”
He asked the rumour mongers rhetorical questions on what they stand to benefit from his death. In his words, “In what way would they profit from my demise? Were they doing it for politics or to amass public sympathy?”
“Let me say in clear and unequivocal terms that I am convalescing fast and with the prayers of all Nigerians, I shall be discharged soon to reunite my political family and admirers in Ekiti to prepare grounds for Dr Fayemi assumption of office on October 16, 2018,” the statement reads further.
He further appreciates the Ekiti people for speaking through their votes as he vowed that the people would smile again.
“I want to salute the courage of our people for voting massively for Dr. Fayemi. APC as a progressive and well-coordinated party that was averse to an impetuous policy as presently being witnessed in Ekiti would come with policies and programmes that will put smiles on the faces of the populace,” the statement added.
