‘I have no intention to be rewarded’: Grab driver says after giving free ride to passenger whose father died, Singapore News – AsiaOne

person

Most Grab drivers take us to our destinations. Some go the extra mile.

One Grab driver is being praised for making a difficult day just a little better for one rider when he waived the fare and even gave her an ang bao after learning that her father had just died.

Nasran Zainal’s good deeds first came to light when the passenger, who remains unnamed, took to Facebook to share their encounter on Feb 28.

She had booked a ride on Feb 26 heading to Singapore General Hospital to visit her father, who had died earlier that day.

“I booked a Grab ride from home to SGH and got a driver who was travelling along PIE (Pan Island Expressway) and three minutes away. I was with my aged mum,” she wrote.

“After a while, I checked the app and suddenly saw that he was along ECP (East Coast Parkway) and the waiting time turned to 11 mins.”

Feeling confused, she messaged Nasran to clarify and explained their reason for heading to the hospital.

Nasran, 34, sent his condolences and explained that he had to make a detour as he had been at an exit along the expressway when he received the booking, but assured them that he would pick them up nonetheless.

At this point, she was “already very appreciative” of Nasran, she said.

But there were more surprises to come.

When they reached the hospital, Nasran handed them an ang bao, saying it was a “small token”.

“I rejected it and said ‘don’t need’ as I felt really paiseh (embarrassed) of him doing that [sic]. After some haggling, I accepted the small token as he was really insistent.”

The second surprise came the next day when she received a refund of the $11 fare.

After enquiring with Grab’s customer service personnel, she found out that the driver had requested the refund as a “goodwill token”.

Addressing Nasran, the passenger wrote: “You are really a shiny gem who went the extra mile. Anyone who knows Mr Zainal, please pass the message to him. Thank you.”

The post quickly attracted over 6,400 shares and some 800 comments singing Nasran’s praises.

One commenter wrote: “We salute you Mr Zainal. You are a very kind and compassionate man. May God bless you and your family.”

Another said: “A great man with a wonderful heart. May you be blessed with good health and happiness. Drive safely and thank you for your kindness.”

Speaking to AsiaOne on Mar 2, Nasran explained:

“Upon hearing that her dad passed away, I really felt sad for the family. In my heart, I said I should do something for the family.

“I have always believed we should do something for the community and help anyone whenever they need, regardless of race or religion.”

In response to his good deed going viral, Nasran was modest and self-effacing, saying that there were others who had “done much more” than him.

“Honestly I really didn’t expect this to be viral as I have no intention to be rewarded for what I have done. I feel blessed and thankful to all the people who have been sharing this news and sending good wishes for myself and my family on social media.”

AsiaOne has reached out to Grab for comment.

Crush That Crush: Pastor Adeboye Of RCCG Sparks Twitter ‘Fire’ With His Statement About A Lady

Pastor Adeboye Gives Advice On Marriage

A series of tweets on Wednesday by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has caused sharp contentions on Twitter.

The revered cleric had shaken a table when he decided to address the issue of married people who still have crushes on other sexes apart from their spouses.

Pastor Adeboye noted in his submission that many who failed to deal with the issue of ‘crushes’ are now dealing with bigger issues of infidelity and even adultery.

He urged Christians to take their marriage seriously, challenging them to cut off whatever could make them contemplate adultery.

He then said: “Today, I will be focusing on the married. It is sad that many married people are still having crushes with persons apart from their spouses. “If there is any fellow aside from your spouse you are admiring unduly, you must see such a person as the devil and get rid of them immediately.”

Pastor Adeboye then went ahead to cite an example of how, he charged his “son” to sack his secretary whom he has been admiring at work – a submission that has attracted different reactions from Nigerians.

He said: “One of my sons once told me that he was always excited to resume in the office every Monday because he would get to see his secretary again. I told him to fire her immediately. Nothing and no one is worth your marriage.”

One of my sons once told me that he was always excited to resume in the office every Monday because he would get to see his secretary again. I told him to fire her immediately. Nothing and no one is worth your marriage.

— PastorEAAdeboye (@PastorEAAdeboye) January 29, 2020

He said many other things on how to protect one’s marriage but many have chosen to focus on his ‘order’ to sack the lady.

See some reactions that have trailed the statement by Pastor Adeboye:

Even people that won’t let their partners keep besties of the opposite sex are condemning Pastor Adeboye…lol

I don’t agree with his thread but most of you won’t say pim if your partner pulls that move.

Infact you’d even feel “special” talmbout “cut him/her off for me”

Abegi!

After dragging Pastor Adeboye on Twitter today, they will rush to redemption camp tomorrow to tap from his anointing 🙄

If a Feminist says.

“Men are scum, they can’t hold their sexual urges”

Una go complain.

But Pastor Adeboye instead of telling His Son to Man up and bury his sexual urges.

Told his boy to sack a staff for merely existing.

U lot are defending it.

Low quality men🤝 hypocrisy

“Pastor Adeboye, Crush that Crush is for married people, right? That means the son & secretary are not single, right? That means for your MARRIAGE to work, no room for David & Bathsheba drama, right?

Take the lessons & stop this follow the crowd mentality.

— Michel_231 (@231_michel) January 29, 2020

My sister if you chase away your help cos you feel she might tempt your hubby then you have no right to blast Pastor Adeboye. Like the only crime your help commited is developing breast and growing into a beautiful woman. Everyone is woke on social media ,hypocrites..

— Mercenary (@Ifeatu9) January 29, 2020

pastor adeboye told his son to sack his secretary because of the excitement he get around her

Mathew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out & throw it away

Nigerians react as Maryam Sanda is sentenced to death by hanging for killing husband (Video) – Davina Diaries

person

Nigerians have reacted to the Court verdict sentencing Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for killing her husband Bilyaminu Bello in November 2018.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Monday sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging after convicting her for the death of her husband Bilyaminu Bello.

Sanda had faced trial over an allegation of stabbing Bilyaminu to death, son of former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Haliru Bello.

In November 2017, the police charged Sanda for culpable homicide and sought a death penalty against the accused on two counts.

She was pregnant when she killed her husband and has since birthed a baby girl.

They informed the court that the killing was premeditated.

According to the charge sheet, Sanda was said to have stabbed her husband with broken bottles.

The police charged her for culpable homicide and sought a death penalty against her on two counts.

They informed the court that the killing was premeditated. According to the charge sheet, Sanda stabbed her husband with broken bottles at about 3:50 am.

But the accused who was initially remanded in custody has repeatedly pleaded not guilty to the crime.

After her conviction, she fled the dock immediately. However, court officials and prisons officials dragged her back into the dock.

Maryam started wailing and shouting “Inna lilahi Inna roji hun”, as her family and lawyer try to console her. She was heard saying, “I was fasting and praying … Ya Allah, why?”

Watch video below:

The news of the court’s verdict has been met with different reactions on social media with some people including celebrities preaching against anger or staying in an unhappy marriage.

However, a Nigerian activist identified as Rahama (@Forever_Rayyan) on Twitter, has taken to the microblogging site to show support to Maryam. According to Rahama, men are demonic and can push one to extreme lengths.

She added that Maryam’s life matters in this case and that her husband misbehaved which led to her stabbing him in anger.

Rahama reiterated that she stands with Maryam and that even though she killed her husband, it is not a reason for them to pay evil with evil. She added that because Bilyaminu Bello’s father is a former PDP chairman does not mean Maryam does not have rights.

See some reactions below:

We should take this Maryam sanda situation as a lesson to control our rage and anger in life, because 2minutes can ruin your life forever so please and please let’s try and control our rage before we do what we will regret in life …

— Boardman (@TimelineBandit) January 27, 2020

I’ve no pity for her; Maryam Sanda, for that’s the provision of QUR’AN and constitutionally it’s a law we must to abide by. I wish you the best when approaching the MASTER OF all the JUDGES

— Amb Shuaibu Gomna (@Shuaibu_Gomna) January 27, 2020

Justice well served!

As an activist I stand with MARYAM SANDA😌 men are demonic and can push you to extreme lengths, yes we should learn to control our anger but even the Qur’an said you should seek for protection and defend your self when necessary in the 1999 constitution as been amended.

— R(a)HaM(a)❤ (@Forever_Rayyan) January 27, 2020

There is no reason to pay evil with evil, you didn’t ask her for her reason for the murder even taught islam prohibits killing, sometimes men do really push women to the wall you know🙄🤔 just cause his father is a former PDP chairman doesn’t mean she has no right Nigeria 😪

— R(a)HaM(a)❤ (@Forever_Rayyan) January 27, 2020

I also stand with Maryam sanda, she is d only one that knows what she went through.u shouldn’t blame her for what she did.Dont be judgemental

— Miss Rabiah (@RabiatAbdulkad1) January 27, 2020

Maryam Sanda opinions in this case matters as well, human rights are women right, her husband mis behaved she stapped him out of anger without knowing, he died & you’re now blaming her. Put yourselves in her shoes arewa Twitter.

— R(a)HaM(a)❤ (@Forever_Rayyan) January 27, 2020

What happens to the child, they should leave her for the child sake, so the child is now an orphan, mommy killed dad and everyone starts running away from the child thinking she is also gonna be a serial killer? Weve to change our mind sets. Nigeria law is scam.#MaryamSanda https://t.co/uV6dNxvNhR

Hours after Mayam Sanda was sentenced to death by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the nation’s capital, for killing her husband, a special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad, has described the incidents as devastating and traumatic.

The presidential aide made this known on his Twitter page on Monday, January 27, stressing that only Allah could strengthen the couple’s families.

Ahmad said it would be sad for Maryam Sanda’s daughter to know while growing up that her mother killed her father and that the court in return sentenced her to death.

He said it might not be easy for the innocent girl to cope with such traumatic incidences, adding that it is only Allah could give her strength to bear the burden and agony of losing both parents in such circumstances.

Ahmad further stated that thoughts and prayers have been with Bilyaminu and Maryam’s families since the incident happened.

I feel so sorry and sad for Maryam Sanda’s daughter, growing up to understand such devastating incidences will not going to be easy. May Allah give her the strength and be with her. Thoughts and prayers have been with Bilyaminu and Maryam’s families. May Allah comfort them.

— Bashir Ahmad (@BashirAhmaad) January 27, 2020

He prayed Almighty Allah to be with both families and Sanda’s daughter.

Meanwhile, the police had told the court that Sanda had stabbed her husband with a broken bottle with the intention of killing him.

However, the accused denied the claim and pleaded not guilty to the crime. She said her husband died after he accidentally fell on a broken bottle in their home.

She was eventually granted bail after many attempts. As part of her bail condition, the court-mandated her father to produce her in court till the end of the trial.

“I Can Raise Kobe bryant From Death If 10% Of His Net Worth Is Given To Me – Prophet Nigel Gaisie

person

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, made some shocking claims concerning the death of the basketball player Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant who died in an helicopter crash on their way to California in saturday.

While the man of God was preaching and prophesying to his congregations, he said he is capable of raising Kobe Bryant and his daughter from death
He however attached some conditions to this…. According to man of God, he can only do so if 10% of Kobe’s net worth is given to him

Prophet Nigel Maisie says as quoted belo
The Lord just took me into the spirit world, and I have seen a great man fall….This news will shake the entire world because of how great this man is. I see a lot of people on social media talking about the man for weeks to come and I see a lot of sad faces .”

“America will mourn this great man. The Lord then instructed me to announce to the family of this man, the American embassy in Ghana and the entire world that He the Lord has not sanctioned the death of this man
He again said to me, ‘Nigel, tell the family of this man and tell the entire world, should they agree to pay my tithes and offerings I will use you as a vessel to bring this man and his daughter back to life.’”

Prophet Nigel asserted that without the 10% offer, there was no way he could bring the man and his daughter back to life because that was the instruction given to him by God Himself.

“The man is worth 500 million dollars and should the family agree to give 10% of his income to me, I will bring them back to life. Thus sayeth the Lord! Without the money, I cannot bring him and the little girl back.”

Prophet Nigel Giasie after making these declarations asked his congregation to pray in tongues and thank the Lord for wanting to use him and their church for such a great miracle.

He went on to admonish the congregation to make sure the message reaches the American consulate in Ghana, the family of the late Kobe Bryant, and also warned his congregation not to doubt the words of Almighty Jehovah or else face some serious repercussions.

'His killers must be brought to book'-- outrage as police 'torture' mechanic to death

The alleged killing of Chima Ikwunado, a mechanic in Port Harcourt, Rivers, by some officers of the Nigerian police force in the state, has sparked outrage on social media platforms.

Comrade Phils, an activist, had taken to his Facebook page to disclose that the brother and a client of the deceased narrated to him how men attached to the E Crack, Mile 1 police station, carried out the act.

According to him, the client disclosed that he gave his car to the deceased to fix its air-conditioning system on December 19, 2019.

The next day, he tried reaching Chima, the deceased, via phone but he was unreachable. He then decided to visit the mechanic shop and still couldn’t find Chima and his car. Upon further inquiry from other mechanics at the shop, it was discovered that the deceased was apprehended by the police.

He said the client subsequently visited different police stations till he got to the Mile 1 police station and saw his car parked outside the Eagle Crack division.

The client said upon identifying himself as the car owner, he had a gun pointed at him and was chased out of the station. For fear of being shot at, he left as instructed.

As he went home to restrategise on how to tackle the issue, he said he was visited by Obinna, a brother to the deceased, who explained that Chima and some other colleagues were testing two cars, his and a Toyota Camry, after repairs.

Due to the terrible traffic at the time they decided to drive through a one-way route where they were apprehended by the police.

Obinna said that the policemen asked for bribes but were not satisfied with the amount offered by Chima and his colleagues and immediately accused them of stealing the two cars.

The police allegedly took the cash on them, a total of N150,000, handcuffed them and took them to the police station where they were subjected to “brutal torture”.

One of the arrested suspects, who couldn’t bear the torture anymore, confessed to them breaking into a lady’s home and stealing the cars.

With the knowledge of the reason behind the arrest, Chima’s client proceeds to claim his car. Accompanied by an Airforce commander, he takes copies of the original car documents to the station.

After much back and forth, the car was eventually released to him but Chima and his colleagues remained in the custody of the police.

On January 2, the client disclosed he received a call from a barrister who was defending Chima’s colleagues.

It was during this conversation, it was discovered Chima had died from the torture and his colleagues had been sent to prison with decaying sores from wounds inflicted on them during torture.

The Nigerian Police is the most corrupt, insensitive & reckless public institution in the world.

An institution that is supposed to protect our lives, is the same institution that indiscriminately murders our own people.

Such an alarming contradiction!#JusticeForChima
😢

This country is so messed up. To imagine our law enforcement agencies are the ones doing the work of Armed Robbers and Hired killer. The governments are definitely sleeping. #JusticeForChima

Kenyan Mum, Connie Muuru, Advises Women As She Marks 4 Years Since Her Daughter Was Battered To Death By Boyfriend – Motherhood In-Style Magazine

person

Yesterday, January 14, marked the fourth anniversary of the death of a young Kenyan woman, Sharon Muuru who was killed by her boyfriend, Salim Kipruto Seem. The deceased’s mother, Mrs Connie Muuru, a Nairobi businesswoman took to Facebook to mourn and warn victims of domestic violence as she always does since the untimely loss of her daughter, who was a single mum.

Connie, who has started a project that would empower victims of domestic violence, says her daughter’s experience has made her cognizant of the morbid experiences people in violent relationships go through. She narrated that Salim made a habit of getting violent with the deceased even though he was jobless, lived in her daughter’s house and was fended for by Sharon.

The deceased was also not married to her killer and her only child was from a previous relationship according to Connie, who only got to know of how serious her child’s travails had been, only after the young mum had passed.

She narrated to eDaily what transpired until her daughter died.

”If someone shows you little elements of violence, walk out. Don?t wait to be beaten to death ? this applies to members of both genders.

Let the wrangling couple, whose relationship is marred by violence, to separate and solve their differences when not living under the same roof.

They can come back together later after their problems are solved amicably. For instance, my daughter knew her partner Serem was not a good person because she was beaten severally. She shouldn?t have waited until she was killed.

I am not against families, I am not against marriages. But when it comes to death, nothing can be compared.

My daughter thought since she was the one providing and paying the rent, then the man was the one to leave.

But that shouldn?t be the case. If you are the one providing and your partner becomes violent, please leave him or her. You can get another house and other properties, but not another life.”

Read Connie’s Facebook post from yesterday below:

Baby girl I wish there’s anything I can do to bring you back… It’s exactly 4 years today, since you left us.
January 14th will remain dark and sad day all my life!

It’s more painful to remember the man you cared and loved, decided to kill you.
Sadly you allowed him to continue staying in your house, even after many nights of violence.

You were kind… brilliant…considerate and selfless… maybe that’s why he took advantage of you.

But it’s doesn’t matter now though…I only hope that you made to heaven child

Continue resting with Angels, because you are one of them!

Your beautiful memories are with me daily and have consciously, refused to forget you.
IN MEMORY OF MY DAUGHTER SHARON MUURU, I CONTINUE SAYING NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!

If your spouse can’t solve problems without a fight just part ways, while you are alive.Remember you have only one life… once you lose it, it’s forever!

MAY THE BEAUTIFUL SOUL OF MY DAUGHTER SHARON MUURU REST IN PEACE

Bobrisky death report – See what Nigerians are saying

car person

News made the rounds earlier today on the death of controversial cross dresser Bobrisky, which happened to be a fake report.

The socialite himself came online moments ago to debunk the rumours saying those that wish death upon him will die before him and he would slay to their burial.

Nigerians however trooped to social media upon getting hold of the report and you would surely want to be briefed on what they have been saying about the fake Bobrisky death report.

Bobrisky is probably making a snap video cursing that blog that’s reporting fake news about him/her being dead

If it turns out that AIT did bad journalism, Bobrisky should sue their arse. What nonsense!

Man drags younger sister on Facebook for refusing to wash his clothes

person

Facebook user, Fanta Boy Ekwem, on monday, narrated how his younger sister ‘insulted him’ and even ‘fought back’ after he demanded to know why she did not wash his clothes as he instructed.

According to him, his sister is not ‘fully married’ as the fiance has only done introduction and paid her bride price.

He stated that she still lives in their family house and will remain there until her fiance concludes the final traditional rights on Easter day.

Sharing a photo of himself wearing a shirt allegedly torn by his younger sister during their fight, Ekwem wrote;

“I don’t normally bring up my family issues online but I have to do this for you guys to judge it, because everybody who were here when it happened was on her side. She is married and so fucking what? Am just so sad this morning, this thing that happened today won’t end just like this I swear.

We have four girls in our family two out of the four girls senior me, and I senior two, one of the girls who I senior got married(the guy just did introduction and small something on her head) she is still in our family because the guy is yet to finish up the traditional rights according to the igbo culture.

So yesterday I was going out I bring out my Dirty clothes as you can see it on the pictures, I told her to wash the clothes for me so that today I will go back to base with them. She didn’t talk to me I left. I came back in the night and went to bed I didn’t ask of the clothes I told her to wash.

This morning I woke up around 6AM to park my things so I can start going back to Lagos, I called her to come and give me the clothes she washed for me, she didn’t even talk to me. I said okay let me go to the back yard to check if she sprayed it there. I met my cloths on the same spot I left it for her to wash yesterday”.
